SmackFactor

SMACKFACTOR, 2008
By   ML Altobelli

If you like screamoaning, head smashing, take no-one alive, around your face brutality, feast on this release.  An end of the world production, 2008, brought to us by the ever-productive and diverse Hapi Scratch Records, gives ‘thanks to all our sickening fans worldwide’.  There are ten songs that do little to change the dark metal genre but Smackfactor does it with ease.  All avenues of assault technology and musicianship are on board with songs such as Killing Spree, Subserviant and Rabies, though personally not my cup of glass shards.  However, the eleventh track, Wor (The Path of Insanity) actually lightens up or darkens less.  With unrelenting percussive toms and a slew of vocal and sound effect antics, Smackfactor sounds as if they are having fun going nutso.  Very convincing.  These menacing and angry misfits just might be pussycats.  Or not.  After all, Maxfactor , the cosmetic giant comes to mind of this sextets’ moniker.  Ask them about it at one of their shows.  Or not.
