Michaela Rae – Blues with a Backbone

Michaela Rae - Blues with a Backbone

Blues With A Backbone, Michaela Rae

Michaela Rae began playing guitar at age four and started recording this CD at age thirteen. That’s what it says on the back of the CD cover. Listening to her guitar playing, is pretty incredible. Listening to her vocals, Ok, she sounds like she’s a kid. Nevertheless, Blues With A Backbone is a solid blues album and better than some from full grown adults, who should really know better. She seems to know that the vocals are her weak point, so there’s quite a bit more guitar playing than singing. If she keeps playing, she’s gonna be kicking ass and singing the blues for decades to come and her voice will, no doubt, grow to fit the music. The CD has nine tracks, mostly covers from SRV, Buddy Guy and Robert Berry, but there are three tracks co-written by Rae and Dave Beegle, who also produced the album. While she’s really too young to sound like she has “The Blues,” she’s a terrific guitar player and we look forward to hearing her future recordings.
Buy this CD if you like the blues and want to hear a very fresh talent who has the chops to become big… some day.
