group was founded in California in 1985 by Axl Rose, Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan, and Steven
Adler. They have sold more than 100 million records globally and are still touring. Their songs have
been hits all over the world and they have reached heights when it comes to music. Some of their
hits include Sweet Child O’ mine, November Rain, Street of Dreams, and Chinese Democracy.


Queen must be one of the best British rock bands. They formed in London in 1970. When band
members Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor met at university. Their music
was based on a mixture of musical styles including hard rock. This band has collected many awards
and some of them includes Outstanding Contribution to Music, Best Selling British Record, and many
more… There most famous songs are ‘’We are the Champions’’ and ‘’We will Rock you’’. They have
managed to sell up to 300 million records and are up there with the bestselling artists of all time.


Founded in 1987, in Washington state, Nirvana became the poster boys of a cultural movement. The
band was led by Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, and Krist Novoselic. Their landmark album Nevermind
became one of the most important albums in rock music. The single ‘’smells like teen spirit’’ became
an anthem for Generation X. They were awarded the title – ‘’Greatest Artist of the 1990s’’. They
even won the Best Alternative Music Performance at the Grammy Awards in 1996.


Metallica was formed in 1981. The heavy metal band has become one of the biggest metal bands in
history. Their sound includes heavy metal, thrash metal, speed metal, and hard rock. The line-up
includes James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo, and Lars Ulrich. However, past members
were the likes of Ron McGovney, Cliff Burton, Dave Mustaine, and Jason Newsted. They have won
nine Grammy Awards and most of them were for Best Metal Performance.
