Yo, Flaco!, The Skinny

Fifteen tracks, three years in the making. It’s about time! The Skinny delivers everything we’ve come to expect from Yo, Flaco! Cool jazz guitar work from Brandon Martin, rap from Neil McIntyre, Nate “Microphone Jones” and Derris Miles. Those Flaco signature bass lines from Wes Coplen that always get people dancing. The extra plush piano work from Matt Piazza, and the horn section that kicks it all up to the next level. The music is based in big band jazz, offset with a funk rhythm and rappers who take it over the top. One tune, “Stinger’s Last Stand,” is an instrumental piece that makes for a nice listen. A couple of the tracks feature prominent trumpet solos from local jazzmeister Ron Miles. Listening carefully to the lyrics “Four” We got a kick out of how they worked in a rhyme to “Mother Earth’s clitoris.” The disc features 15 tracks which mix new tunes with some of their more familiar numbers like “There’ll Be Another One” [after you].
