Savage Henry’s debut CD All In comes up aces. The gambling theme apparent in the cover art and the title track “All In” refers to how much the band has riding on this project. They’ve brought together all their years of experience playing in various now-defunct bands, pooled everything together to figure out what works and what doesn’t and are taking a big gamble by putting everything they’ve got into this project. “Daisy” includes an odd yet attention grabbing verse and chorus from the old chestnut “Daisy, Daisy tell me your answer true” We don’t understand why, but it works in this arrangement. “Alive & Kickin'” seems to be a song expressing their joy at being back rockin’ out following the implosion of On Second Thought. “Presenting Me” has a furious ska feel to it. The rhythm section is tight and powerful. The guitar keeps things rockin’ and the vocals put the icing on the cake. The songs have a fun quirky quality with odd spacing and timing that just grabs the listener and holds tight. Some of the songs will stick around in your head for days.
