Highwaters the six song EP from the Michael Lloyd Band presents us with a perfectly likable CD with well written, performed and produced emo rock. Six original tracks of upbeat music with toe-tappin’ rhythms and pleasing instrumentation. The vocals are well performed by Michael Ligouri. The lyrics, though, are largely forgettable, after several listens, none of them stuck in our head. Sounds like the songs were written on piano and then expertly fleshed out to a full band. A refreshing change from the guitar driven tunes we’ve become accustomed to. The piano parts are indeed the strongest aspect of this disk. We love the upright bass line on “So Easily.” Overall, the CD has a comfortable, pleasant feel. Easy on the ears.
