Songs That Make No Sense, Hamrick

Our copy of Songs That Make No Sense arrived in a cool round tin container. At least we thought it was cool, until we couldn’t get the darn thing opened. Probably got squished during the shipping process. Anyway, we were eventually intrigued enough (or bored enough) to force the tin open with a pair of pliers and discovered that the CD was still remarkably intact. Well cushioned in it’s impermeable tin coffin. We still think the tin idea is cool, but this one keeps rolling off our CD rack, so we aren’t as excited about as when it first arrived. “Strange Dreams” is a lounge song. “Great Divide” goes country and then shifts to electronica. “Can’t Complain” has a bluesy-disco feel, without being too disco, or anything else for that matter. “Stalkin’ & Streakin'” has a smooth jazz feel while the lyrics describe the mis-adventures of the author in a slightly hilarious fashion with lyrics such as: “I’m strokin’ it again, in your treeeeee.” “Dumpster Divin’ Debra” runs toward fast country and with a title like that, you just gotta laugh, no matter what the rest of the song is like. “Sheeple” left us bored. “Doggy Style” employs an electronic organ to odd effect. “Skillet Monroe” is a solo acoustic guitar number with insane ramblings. The CD leaves us off with an instrumental version of “Stalkin’ & Streakin'” Probably a good idea, since it’s the most memorable tune on the disk.
Buy this CD if you need a good laugh.
